Happy 105th Birthday, Mary Lou White!

Mary Lou White celebrated her milestone 105th  birthday with her friends and family on Friday, March 8th.  Mary Lou was born March 12, 1919 in Webb City, Missouri.  She is a retired teacher who taught in Sale City Georgia where she was band director and taught high school English and French  after graduating from Western Kentucky State Teachers College in 1940.  Her teaching career continued in Virginia, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Maryland.  After retiring from teaching, she taught Preschool/Kindergarten in Dayton, Ohio where she lived  until moving to McDowell Place of Danville in Kentucky.  Mary Lou has been an integral part of all the happenings at McDowell Place including our Helping Hands Group, Drama group, Wii bowling teams to name just a few.  She was even crowned our “Senior” prom queen in 2018 and is currently bowling in her 5th National Senior League Wii Bowling tournament!

Mary Lou has certainly been a role model for many..  Her sense of humor and positive attitude are a lesson for us all. She has touched so many lives in her 105 years.  She has always instilled within us to enjoy life, help others, and never give up.  She is a light to all she comes in contact with and several of us are fortunate and  grateful to call her friend.
